President's Message

Welcome to the website of Phi Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. We serve the greater Birmingham, Alabama area, including Jefferson and Shelby Counties. Phi Iota Omega chapter was charted on December 11, 1999 as the second Birmingham chapter and the third graduate chapter in the area. Throughout our twenty years, we have been blessed with dynamic leaders who have embraced the ideals of our strong sisterhood. In our 21st year, we strive to continue that level of leadership as we work to provide ‘service to all mankind’ in excellence. We value the partnerships that we have formed and maintained through the years and we look to partner with other similarly focused and/or service organizations and agencies. We honor our mission of providing service to our communities.

Under the leadership of our esteemed International President, Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover, we are ‘Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service’ with the following targets:

Target 1: HBCU for Life: A Call to Action

Target 1A: College Admission Process (#CAP)

Target 2: Women’s Healthcare and Wellness

Target 3: Building Your Economic Legacy

Target 4: The Arts!

Target 5: Global Impact

In addition to our chapter’s 21st Anniversary, we will celebrate Alpha Kappa Alpha Incorporated’s 113th anniversary, South Eastern Region’s 100th Anniversary, and our own Soror Kamala Harris’ election to the position of Vice President of the United States of America. We recognize that “to who much is given, much will be required” so we serve in gratitude.
